How to choose the correct firmware

Every TV and every firmware image has an identifier called an OTAID (over-the-air ID) that encodes the SoC and tuner type. Don't try to install any firmware that doesn't match your TV's OTAID (the new TVs will check for compatibility, but if you are trying to downgrade, you are bypassing compatibility checks).
If you don't want to use the command line, download and install the Dev Manager Desktop app (Windows / Mac / Linux). Then navigate to the info tab to view your OTAID.
Or you can run this command on webOS 4.0+ devices without root access:
luna-send-pub -n 1 'luna://com.webos.service.tv.systemproperty/getSystemInfo' '{"keys":["otaId"]}'
Or you can use the webOS CLI tool to get the OTAID by running this command on non-rooted TVs:
ares-device --system-info --device <device_name>
Or you can get your TV's OTAID by running this command from a root shell:
luna-send -q 'model_name' -n 1 'luna://com.webos.service.update/getCurrentSWInformation' '{}'
There is one exception to the OTAID rule. Major 2022 webOS updates changed the OTAID on some TVs. For example, the C2 OLED changed from OTAID HE_DTV_W22O_AFABATAA (04.40.90) to OTAID HE_DTV_W22O_AFABATPU (13.20.20). Usually, if an OTAID change happened, the newer OTAIDs end with "TPU" (there are also some exceptions) Some newer TVs, such as the 2026 models, and some uncommon TVs, such as the Z2, can't be found using OTAID search in this archive because the OTAID in the firmware files cannot be decoded by epk2extract. In that case, search for the model name instead. They are listed in the unknown section of this archive
